New Animal Welfare Facility

RSPCA Leeds, Wakefield and District branch’s new £1.5 million animal centre in East Ardsley opened to the public on Saturday 27th June 2015.

TD Jagger Limited were appointed by the RSPCA Leeds, Wakefield & District Branch to develop a newly acquired site, formerly known as “Foxholes Animal Hotel” into a rescue & rehoming centre for the local Leeds & Wakefield area.

Following termination of their existing leased premises, the branch were seeking new animal accommodation and quality office accommodation to meet the needs of branch staff and to provide a safe and suitable site to welcome members of the public & visitors.

Located within a designated green belt area, planning approval for the development was successfully secured by TD Jagger Limited. Subsequent re-development of the site entailed demolition of existing sub-substandard animal accommodation & dilapidated buildings with new facilities designed and developed by TD Jagger Limited to the requirements of the RSPCA’s current animal welfare regulations and current Building Regulation requirements.

The new facilities provided include cat and dog isolation facilities, a veterinary suite, an indoor dog arena for training and play together with an outside exercise area, a visitor centre and shop. A staff office, staff flat and ancillary welfare facilities, together with extensive external landscaping works complete a brief summary of the work undertaken.

The new centre presently has the capacity to house 15 dogs, 30 cats and up to 12 small animals with provision for future expansion incorporated within the planning consent.
