TD Jagger are pleased to announce that the first phase of RSPCA Chesterfield & North Derbyshire branch’s new £1.5 million animal centre has recently completed on site.

TD Jagger Limited were appointed by RSPCA Chesterfield & North Derbyshire to both redevelop and significantly extend their existing animal welfare facilities at Spital Lane in Chesterfield, which dates back to the 1960's.

The completed cattery is a new single storey building designed and developed by TD Jagger Limited to the requirements of the RSPCA’s current animal welfare regulations and current Building Regulation requirements.

The new cattery provides 22 no. cat pens with ancillary examination/treatment, food preparation, laundry and meet and greet facilities.

Also presently nearing completion on site is a substantial new build dog kennel block of circa 780 m. sq. / 8,390 ft. sq. This unit will provide 36 no. kennels providing separate indoor exercise and sleeping areas, specially designed to accommodate dogs of various sizes. As with the cattery, the kennel building also includes provision for several examination/treatment, food preparation, laundry and meet and greet facilities.

Future phases of planned development include a new build dog and cat isolation building and a comprehensive refurbishment of the existing animal accommodation, visitor reception and staff office/welfare buildings.

Externally the project entails new hard and soft landscaped areas that will be sympathetic to the sites close proximity to natural meadows. The construction of a new surface water attenuation pond also boosts the developments environmental credentials.

On completion, this modern, state of the art facility is expected to care for around 1000 animals in need each year.
